GENERAL

Seniors – your senior info and pictures are due before Christmas break.  Please get this in as soon as possible to Mrs. Atkins or Hayley Mund.  Today is the last day.  If you have a problem meeting the deadline please talk to Mrs. Atkins.

 

Anyone interested in being a Camp Rotary Counselor needs to sign up in the office and pick up a packet.

 

Attention YACsters:  Please remember you should already have picked up your "Fingers and Toes" donation boxes.  Please bring any additional donations that you have received to Ms. Morse's room as soon as possible.   Thanks!

JUNIORS – The Discover Scholarship Program awards diverse high school juniors on their exemplary achievements in Leadership and Community Service while overcoming obstacles.  Applications for the scholarship program are available at www.discoverfinancial.com/community.  The application deadline is January 31, 2009.

This week our 7th and 8th grade basketball teams have been busy.  Monday the 7th grades opened things up with a 29-22 victory over McBain.  The same night our 8th graders lost a tough close one 33-30.  Last night at home the 7th grade team defeated Evart 36-24 and our 8th graders also won 31-25.  Great job this week guys.  Our next games are at Manton on Monday.

The Middle School Football season ended Wednesday night. Both teams took control of the game offensively and defensively. Final 7th grade score Lake City 28, Pine River 8. Final 8th grade score Lake City 37, Pine River 8. Both teams ended the season with 5 wins each and only 1 defeat. Congratulations and thank you on a great season.

 

The 8th grade volleyball team ended the season with a win against McBain last night.  The girls lead a winning season this year with a 7-5 record.  Well done ladies, Coach Rogers is so proud of you!  Thanks for the season!

 

The 7th grade girls’ volleyball team completed their undefeated season last night against McBain.  Scores were 21-9, 21-19.  Excellent teamwork ladies.  Coach Petrosky said he will see you tonight after school.

The 8th grade volleyball girls lost to Pine River in last night’s match.  7th grade team defeated an excellent Pine River squad last 19-21, 21-11, 21-10.  Team work, excellent serving, and communication were the keys to the victory.  Only one game left, come support the teams’ vs. McBain on Thursday at our gym.

The 7th grade volleyball team continued to roll last night with an impressive win over Beal City, 21-9, 21-14.  Superb job ladies!  The 8th grade team was defeated last night by an excellent Beal City 8th grade team. Our last two games of the year are next week and both are here in own gym.  Come support the teams Monday against Pine River and Thursday against McBain.

The Middle School football team played at home last night.  Both Lake City teams managed to hang on and come away victorious.  Good sportsmanship as usual reflected the character of both teams. 7th grade score LC 27, Roscommon 20.

8th grade score LC 30, Roscommon 20. Final game of the season is at Pine River next Wednesday.

 

The cross country team ran a great meet in their last meet on Tuesday.  Placing well for Lake City was Brittnae Barkley who ran a 15:30, her personal best for the season.  She placed 11 overall in our conference.  Also placing well was Monica Smith, she placed 12th in the conference.  Congratulations to all of the members of the cross country team on a great season!

In the first game, the 7th graders played outstanding on both sides of the ball and showed great pride and teamwork.  Final score Lake City 27 Brethren 0. The 8th graders followed playing Baldwin.  Hard work is paying off and all players contributed to a very well played game.  Again, teamwork and sportsmanship were the key difference.  Final score Lake City 55

The 8th grade volleyball girls racked up another win against Harrison last night.  The 7th grade volleyball team soundly defeated Harrison  in 5 out of 6 games to take both matches.  Score were 18-21, 21-12, 21-10, 21-13, 21-13 and 21-11.  Excellent team-work. Come support the Lady Trojans at their next home game and see just how awesome they can play.

The 8th grade volleyball team played an exciting match against McBain last night.  Although the girls lost the 2nd game in overtime, they came through to snatch the 3rd game to win the match. Nice job 8th grade girls.

 

The 7th grade volleyball team defeated McBain last night.  After a slow start we continued to gain momentum and took 5 of 6 games played.  Our team won with scores of 22-24, 21-15, 15-6.  Thursday 7th grade is away at Harrison, 8th grade is at home against Harrison.

 

Cross Country team will dismiss today at 2:30 pm

7th grade volleyball ladies defeated an excellent Pine River team last night 21-16, 20-22 and 21-18.  Improved passing and better team effort all around made the difference in the game.  Congratulations!  Our next game is at McBain on Monday.

 

Your 8th grade lady Trojans played an amazing match last night again Pine River.  The match came down to the 3rd game and the girls pulled a win in overtime.  Way to go, ladies!  Come support the volleyball teams as they face McBain Monday evening.

Friday is homecoming; the MS will participate tomorrow by wearing  Black, White and Red.  Absolutely NO pajamas pants or face paint on any day.

 

The 7th and 8th grade football team combined and traveled to Manton to play the Rangers last night.  Both teams showed great sportsmanship.  Manton took control of the game early and played very well.  Final score Manton 18 LC 6. Next week we travel to Roscommon.

The 8th grade Volleyball team struggled against Beal City last night.  Although they lost in two, their playing skills continue improve.  The 7th grade Volleyball team defeated a very good Beal City team last night 18-21, 21-15, 21-15.  It was a hard fought and exciting game to watch.  Congratulations 7th grade and keep up the hard work.

Wish the girls luck as they face Pine River Bucks Thursday night at Pine River.

The Cadillac Footlighters Junior Players are offering a six week adventure comprised of 4 weeks of workshops that will introduce 8-18 year old youth to theatre and will prepare students to participate as characters in 2 weeks of The Enchanted Forest Scavenger Hunt.  The workshop will introduce youth to theatre by focusing on character development, costumes and props, set design, lights and sound effects and make-up.  Then the kids will put the skills they have learned to use as they participate in The Enchanted Forest Scavenger Hunt.

If you’re interested in participating, please pick up a brochure in the office.

The Lake City Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a teen dance during the Festival of the Pines weekend.  The teen dance will be held on Thursday, September 18 from 7 to 10 p.m. at the food and beverage tent downtown Lake City. Any questions check the flyer in the lobby or call the Chamber of Commerce at 839-4969.

 

8th grade volleyball practice is 5:00-6:00 not 6:30 tonight

The Lake City Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a teen dance during the Festival of the Pines weekend.  The teen dance will be held on Thursday, September 18 from 7 to 10 p.m. at the food and beverage tent downtown Lake City. Any questions check the flyer in the lobby or call the Chamber of Commerce at 839-4969.

 

The 8th grade volleyball team started off with a loss against Evart last night. 

In 7th grade volleyball, the girls performed well and worked to their first victory over Evart 21-16, 15-21, 21-14.  Excellent effort ladies.  Come support the girls this Thursday for their first home game against NMC, 5:00 in the middle school gym.

Summer Skills Camp registrations forms are in the office pick up a form if you would like to attend camp this summer.  Deadline is Friday, May 30.

GRADUATION WILL BE HELD IN THE GYMNASIUM 7:00 PM FRIDAY

If you plan to attend graduation please remember the following rules of etiquette:

v     This is a formal ceremony, so jeans, t-shirts and shorts are not appropriate attire.  Hats are not appropriate, either.

v     Yelling, howling and other loud noises do not belong at this ceremony…even if you hear others doing it!

v     You should find a seat when you arrive at the gym and stay seated until it is time to leave once the ceremony has finished. Do not move from your seat during the ceremony—even if you see others moving.

v     You should not talk during the ceremony and should only clap at appropriate times. Again, you should not yell, whistle, or howl.

v     If someone around you is being rude or disrespectful, please try to gently remind them to be quiet.

 

The Missaukee County Sheriff’s Office will be holding Marine Safety Class on Wed, June 11, 2008, from 9am – 4pm.  This class will be held at the Missaukee County EMS building located at 404 First Street, Lake City.  The class is for students ages 12 and above.  Registrants must bring their birth certificates, pencil and a sack lunch with them to the class.  Please call the Missaukee County Sheriff’s Office, 839-4338, to register.
