ANNOUNCEMENTS – Friday, May 20, 2011

 

Any 6th and 7th grade boys and girls interested in running cross country in the fall, there is a sign up sheet in Mr. Robertson's room.

Wednesday,  the Lake City girls track team competed in the Highland Conference Final meet where they placed 6th out of the 7 teams.

Placing for the lady Trojans where:

Shot put:   Emily Corwin 6th with a throw of 28'08"

3200 meter run:  MadisonKruschinska 6th  with a time of 14:17

55 hurdles:  Laraiah Schichtel 1st with a time of 10.17

100 dash: Hollie Eising 5th with a time 14.78

70 meter dash: Hollie Eising 5th with a time of 10.74

200 hurdles Laraiah Schichtel 2nd with a time of 34.34

The boys Track Team travelled to Evart for the Highland Conference Meet Wednesday.

Although they finished sixth, there were some great team and individual finishes to round out the season.

 

Placing for the Trojans were:

Collin Hancock with first in the shot put with a throw of 41ʼ 1.5" and  Levi Aten threw for fourth.

Nikolay Booms with 5th in the pole vault and 8th in the 3200 meter run.

James Monhead with an 8th in the 55 meter hurdles and a 7th in 400 meter dash.

Jared Ball placed 4th in the 800 meter run.

Cameron Russell placed 7th in the 1600 meter run.

Collin Hancock rumbled to a 5th place finish in the 100 meter dash.

Colin Hinkston dueled it out to become the conference champion in the 70 meter dash.

David Raymond took the fourth in the 200 meter hurdles.

 

Proving that track is a team sport, the relay teams from Lake City stepped up their game

last night.

Finishing second was the 200 meter relay team of Colin Hinkston, David Raymond,

Caleb Cnossen and Bradley Atkins.

Placing third was the 3200 relay team of Jared Ball, Lucas Marion, Cameron Russell

and Nikolay Booms.

Placing second was the newly put together 1600 relay team of David Raymond,

Cameron Russell, Jacob Shivlie and Bradley Atkins.

To finish off the evening the 400 meter relay team of Colin Hinkston, Collin Hancock,

Lucas Marion and Jared Ball took the conference championship.

The final score of the meet was: Manton 117.50, Evart 105, Pine River 99, Beal City

93, McBain 91.5, Lake City 87, Marion 41.5, NMC 15.

Great season guys, Coach Randall and Coach Kent.

 

The library will close this Friday, May 20th.  All books & fines are due at this time.  All 8th grade books and fines are due back by today.

Girl summer softball ages 13-15 there will be practice Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 pm on the high school softball field.

Don't forget about the rummage and bake sale this weekend at the Maple Grove building.  All proceeds will help fund the 2012 Camp Rotary trip.

Students will not be permitted to charge lunch.  If you do not have lunch money, you may come to the office during home room to call.  All outstanding lunch charges need to be paid.

Several athletic camps are offered in the area this summer.  Stop in the office and check out the information that is available.  There is information on the Lake City 4 on 4 flag football tournament that will be held July 9.

A reminder to students walking to the high school/elementary building, you need to go one street towards town and then walk to the other building.  You are not to walk on Houghton Street.  Along this same note, students should not be walking through someone's yard to get to or from school.  Please walk on the sidewalk or road's edge.

The library will close this Friday, May 20th.  All books & fines are due at this time.  All 8th grade books and fines are due back by today.

Girl summer softball ages 13-15 there will be practice Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 pm on the high school softball field.

There will be a rummage and bake sale fundraiser for the 2012 Camp Rotary trip this weekend at the Maple Grove Park building, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Organizer, Teresa LaFond is looking for volunteers to provide baked goods as well as items for the rummage sale.  Returnable cans and box tops will also be collected. 

Students will not be permitted to charge lunch.  If you do not have lunch money, you may come to the office during home room to call.  All outstanding lunch charges need to be paid.

Several athletic camps are offered in the area this summer.  Stop in the office and check out the information that is available.  There is information on the Lake City 4 on 4 flag football tournament that will be held July 9.

Applications for the Riley Wilderness Youth Camp scholarships are available in the office.  Twenty-two all-expense paid packages will be awarded for each of the three camps offered.  Applications will be considered until June 18th, although, qualified students will be chosen as the applications are submitted. 

A reminder to students walking to the high school/elementary building, you need to go one street towards town and then walk to the other building.  You are not to walk on Houghton Street.  Along this same note, students should not be walking through someone's yard to get to or from school.  Please walk on the sidewalk or road's edge.
