ANNOUNCEMENTS – Friday, May 13, 2011

Track athletes with supervised study slips need to turn those slips into the office by lunch today.

 

Today will be the last dance of the year.  The cost is free, however pizza and pop will still be sold. .75 for a pop and $1 for a piece of pizza.  Hot Traxx will dj.  Have your ride here at 5:00 to pick you up.

 

There will be a rummage and bake sale fundraiser for the 2012 Camp Rotary trip next weekend at the Maple Grove Park building, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Organizer, Teresa LaFond is looking for volunteers to provide baked goods as well as items for the rummage sale.  Returnable cans and box tops will also be collected.  Rummage sale items can be dropped off at the middle school from 7:30 a.m. – 9 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. – 4 p.m. May  16. 

Students will not be permitted to charge lunch.  If you do not have lunch money, you may come to the office during home room to call.  All outstanding lunch charges need to be paid.

Several athletic camps are offered in the area this summer.  Stop in the office and check out the information that is available. There is information on the Lake City 4 on 4 flag football tournament that will be held July 9.

Applications for the Riley Wilderness Youth Camp scholarships are available in the office.  Twenty-two all-expense paid packages will be awarded for each of the three camps offered.  Applications will be considered until June 18th, although, qualified students will be chosen as the applications are submitted. 

A reminder to students walking to the high school/elementary building, you need to go one street towards town and then walk to the other building.  You are not to walk on Houghton Street.  Along this same note, students should not be walking through someone's yard to get to or from school.  Please walk on the sidewalk or road's edge.

Missaukee County Sheriff's Office is hosting a Boating Safety class on May 14 from 10-4.  The event is free, but you must pre-register and bring a sack lunch.  To register, call 839-4338 extension 1.

The Lake City girls track team competed against Evart in a conference meet.  The Lady Trojans lost but gave a great effort with a score of 99 to 53. Placing for the lady Trojans where:

Pole vault: Rebecca Miller 2nd

Shot put:  Micala Taylor 1st , Emily Corwin 2nd , Taylor Widner 3rd

Long jump: Erin McGiness 2nd , Emily Schultz 3rd

High jump: Rachael Nietling 3rd

3200 meter run:  MadisonKruschinska 2nd

800 run:  Madison Kruschinska 3rd

1600 run: Abigail Scott 2nd, Jenne Wilson 3rd

100 dash: Hollie Eising 2nd , Taylor Widner 3rd , Jessica Zubor 4th

400 run Alonza Bosma 3rd , and Rebecca Young 4th

70 meter dash: Hollie Eising 1st , Taylor Widner 4th

The boys track team traveled to Evart last night for a Monday night meet.

Placing for the Trojans were: Caleb Cnossen with a second in the high jump and a third in the long jump.Matt Miller placed fourth in the long jump. DJ Reiter, Nikolay Booms and Andrew Fechter took the first three spots in the pole vault. Collin Hancock, Levi Aten and Joe Liestenfeltz placed first, second and fourth in the shot put. Nikolay Booms and Andrew Fechter placed second and third in the 3200 meter run. Kory Root, Matt Miller and James Monhead placed first, third and fourth in the 55 meter hurdles. Lucas Marion placed third in the 800 meter run.  Cameron Russell placed third in the 1600 meter run. Bradley Atkins and James Monhead placed second and third in the 400 meter dash.

Collin Hinkston and Collin Hancock finished second and third in the 70 meter dash. In the 200 hurdles, it was James Monhead and Kory Root with a second and third. The 200 meter dash finished with Lucas Marion in first, Brandon Gallup in third and Nikolay Booms with fourth. The team put forth a great effort, but came up short with a final score of Evart 94 Lake City 65. Keep up the hard work, guys.

The Lake City Boys Track team had an unusual track meet on Friday. Our first double dual had Lake City running against Kingsley and Pine River at the same time. The 3200 Meter Relay team of Cameron Russell, Jared Ball, Nikolay Booms and DJ Reiter powered to the first place finish in both meets. The 800 meter relay team of Bradley Atkins, Devin Root, Collin Hinkston and Caleb Cnossen did the also dominated both visiting teams. In the 1600 meter relay team of Kory Root, Cameron Russell, Andrew Fechter, and Bradley Atkins managed to best Pine River but came in second to the Stags. The 100 meter relay of Collin Hinkston, D.J. Reiter, Lucas Marion and Jared Ball bested both opponents by a large margin. In the 55 meter hurdles, it was Kory Root with a second and third against. James Monhead with a second and third and Mat Miller with a third against Kingsley. Collin Hancock rumbled to two second place finishes in the 100 meter dash with Jacob

Shivlie placing third against Kingsley. Cameron Russell had two second place finishes while Patrick Rhodes took a third in the 1600 meter run. In the 400 meter dash, Bradley Atkins took a second and third while James Monhead took a third against Pine River. In the 70 meter dash, Collin Hinkston, Collin Hancock and Jacob Shivlie finished 1, 2, 3 in both meets. Lake City actually took the top seven spots! In the 800 meter run, it was Jared Ball with first and Lucas Marion with third in both meets. Lucas Marion also took third in the 200 meter dash in both meets. In the 200 meter hurdles, it was James Monhead with a 2nd in both meets while Kory Root was third against Kingsley. Nikolay Booms placed first and third in the 3200 meter run while Andrew Fechter placed second against Kingsley. Caleb Cnossen took both first place finishes in the high jump. In the shot put it was Collin Hancock with both firsts and Levi Aten with a first and third. In the Pole vault, DJ Reiter took a first and second, Nikolay Booms took a third, and Andrew Fecther tied for fourth against Pine River.

Finally, Caleb Cnossen took a first and second in the long jump and Travis Hamel was credited with a third. Ending the night, Lake City defeated the Kingsley Stags by a score of 82 to 55 and also

defeated the Pine River Bucks 76-61.Way to go boys!
