The Missaukee Area Community Foundation has a collection box in the library for donations for mittens, gloves, boots, or scarf’s for area youth.  Thank you for your contributions.

 

Starting Wednesday at lunch, Student Council will be selling Candy grams.  Candy grams are holiday cards, along with a piece of chocolate candy that can be delivered to anyone in the middle school. They will be sold for a quarter each or 5 for $1.  They will be selling through next Friday the 18th.  Student Council will hand deliver them during Homeroom on the 23rd.  All proceeds go to the Missaukee Humane Society.

 

7th grade basketball team lost to Pine River last night 44-21.  The game was much closer than the final score.  Good job boys.  8th grade boys won a close one to a tough Pine River team 39-30.  Good defense and good rebounding played an important role in their win.

The Natural Helpers are starting the annual Food Drive for Project Christmas.  The drive will continue through the 10th of December. The homeroom that brings in the most items will receive an ice cream party hosted by the Natural Helpers.

The Weight Room will be open to 8th grade boys only on Mon, Wed and Thursday

Caberfae Peaks Community Red Cards are available for $1.00 each.  Red cards offer discounts on lift tickets and ski or board rentals.  If you would like to purchase a red card see Ms. Gilson before school, during your lunch break, or after school.

Last night the 8th grade volleyball team went to play.  We passed, we spiked, we blocked, and nothing was going to stand in the way of this victory.  Pine River was defeated in two straight

25-21, and 25-16.  Congratulations.  7th grade girls’ volleyball beat Pine River in two last night with scores 25/9 and 25/10.  Our season ender will be Thursday at McBain Remember that practice for 7th grade is 3:30-4:30 and 8th grade will be from 4:30-5:30 tonight only.

Last night our Lady Trojans met Beal City here at home and the 8th grade soundly defeated the Aggies.  21-12, 21-15, 15-10.  7th Grade girls’ volleyball played a great game and won against Beal City.  Excellent games last night, now our attention turns to Pine River away on Monday.  Lets take it to them.

Last night The 8th Grade Volleyball team came out strong against a huge McBain team.  Our Lady Trojans played extremely well and defeated McBain in straight matches 21-19, 21-14.  It was a tremendous effort by all of the 8th graders.  Congratulations. The 7th grade girl’s volleyball team took McBain last night by scores of 22-20 and 22-20.  Our next game is on Monday Oct. 5th at home against Manton.

Last night the 8th grade met a tough Pine River team. Although we scored more points overall, the 8th grade team ended up losing to Pine River 19-21, 21-14, 15-12. Keep up the strong effort. We'll get them next time. The 7th grade girls' volleyball team beat Pine River last night with scores of 21-17 and 21-8. Great job girls!!! Our next game is at home on Monday against McBain.

Teachers please remember to have kids vote for student council during homeroom and then send the ballots to Mrs. Gottschall.

If you are interested in helping with school dances, fundraising for the Missaukee Humane Society, or being part of other activities than you may be interested in being part of Student Council.  Different than past years, the 7th and 8th grade students who were on Student Council last year will remain as members, if they so choose.  There is, however, still room for four sixth graders, two seventh graders, and two more eighth graders as members.  If you are interested please get a nomination sheet from Mrs. Gottschall and have it completed by tomorrow.

 

The students who paid for their yearbooks may pick them up in the Library during lunchtime on Monday.  There are a few extras for sale, the cost is $13.00.

Attention all students:  For your safety when walking over to the other school DO NOT walk down Houghton Street, you are to walk over one block to Huron Street and walk down the sidewalk. 

 

 

Last night the Lake City 8th grade volleyball team defeated NMC 19-21, 21-16, 21-14, 21-18.  There was plenty of excellent play on both sides of the court.  Keep up the good work.  No practice tonight, the 7th grade girls' volleyball team took all 5 games against NMC last night, 21-11, 24-22, 21-14, 24-22, 21-19.  Go Girls!! Next game is Monday, Sep. 21st at Beal City. Come prepared to play a tough match.

Congratulations to the middle school cross country team for running a great meet on Tuesday.  Each runner ran excellent and beat the goals they had set for themselves.   An extra congratulation goes out to Damion Fritz, Monica smith, and Ellie Fechter.  Damion and Monica placed in the top half of all runners and Ellie beat her personal best by over 30 seconds!   Great job runners!

 

Just are reminder the Festival of the Pines Teen Dance is tonight, 6:30-8:00 PM - $2.00 to get in.

Last night the Lake City 8th grade volleyball team came up against a vastly improved Evart team.  However, our ladies rose to the occasion and defeated the Evart Wildcats 15-21, 21-18, 21-13. 

The 7th grade volleyball team won a great match against Evart, 21-6, 21-15, 21-14.  Keep working and improving.  Our next contest is against NMC away on Thursday.
