The Lake City Boys track team hosted the Manton boys last night. After the Manton bus

rolled in, the battle was on. Placing for the Trojans were: Nickolay Booms with a 4th place in the 3200 meter run. Kory Root and Matt Miller with a first and third in the 55 meter hurdles. Winning the 800 meter relay was the relay team of Collin Hinkston, Devin Root, CalebCnossen and Bradley Atkins. Jared Ball and Lucas Marion finished first and third in the 800 meter run. Cameron Russell won the 1600 meter run.The 100 meter had Jared Ball, Jacob Shivlie and Collin Hancock finishing 2nd, 3rd and 4th. Bradley Atkins and James Monhead finished 2nd and 4th in the 400 meter dash. The 70 meter dash had Collin Hinkston finishing second and Collin Hancock finishing 4th, twice.  James Monhead and Kory Root finished 2nd and 3rd in the 200 meter hurdles. Devin Root finished 4th in the 200 meter dash. The 400 meter relay team of Collin Hinkston, D.J. Reiter, Lucas Marion and Jared Ball streaked to the first place finish to end the running events. In the pole vault, it was D.J. Reiter and Nickolay Booms finishing 1 and 2. In the shot put, it was Collin Hancock and Levi Aten placing with a first and a third. In high jump, it was Caleb Cnossen with a 3rd and Mike Davis tied for fourth with a Manton competitor. In long jump, it was Caleb Cnossen with first place and Devin Root with third. When the dust had settled, Manton had walked out with a six point victory, 85.5 to 74.5. Weʼre proud of you boys, you fought hard. Coach Randall and Coach Kent.

 

Last night the Lake City girls track team lost to Manton with a score of 82.5 to 72.5

Placing for the lady Trojans were:

Pole vault: Rebecca Miller 1st ; Shot put:  Micala Taylor 1st , Emily Corwin 2nd, and Taylor Widner 4th ; Long jump: Erin McGiness 3rd; High jump: Rachael Nietling 2nd ; 3200 meter run:  Madison Kruschinska 1st; 55 hurdles:  Laraiah Schichtel 1st; 800 meter relay:  Consisting of Corwin, Zubor, Scott, and Miller 1st; 1600 run: Jenne Wislon 3rd  ; 100 dash: Hollie Eising 1st ;

400 run  Laraiah Schichtel 1st , Alonza Bosma 4th ; 70 meter dash: Hollie Eising 1st ;200 hurdles Laraiah Schichtel 1st , Emily Schultz 3rd; 200 dash   Erin McGiness 3rd; 1600 relay: consisting of Helsel, Bosma, Young, and  Kruschinska 1st; A great job was done by all

Starting today, students will not be permitted to charge lunch.  If you do not have lunch money, you may come to the office during home room to call.  All outstanding lunch charges need to be paid.

Several athletic camps are offered in the area this summer.  Stop in the office and check out the information that is available.

Applications for the Riley Wilderness Youth Camp scholarships are available in the office.  Twenty-two all-expense paid packages will be awarded for each of the three camps offered.  Applications will be considered until June 18th, although, qualified students will be chosen as the applications are submitted. 

Missaukee County Sheriff's Office is hosting a Boating Safety class on May 14 from 10-4.  The event is free, but you must pre-register and bring a sack lunch.  To register, call 839-4338 extension 1.

A reminder to students walking to the high school/elementary building, you need to go one street towards town and then walk to the other building.  You are not to walk on Houghton Street.  Along this same note, students should not be walking through someone's yard to get to or from school.  Please walk on the sidewalk or road's edge.

There will be a rummage and bake sale fundraiser for the 2012 Camp Rotary trip on May 20 and May 21 at the Maple Grove Park building, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Organizer, Teresa LaFond is looking for volunteers to provide baked goods as well as items for the rummage sale.  Returnable cans and box tops will also be collected.  Rummage sale items can be dropped off at the middle school from 7:30 a.m. – 9 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. – 4 p.m. May 9 and May 16.

The Lake City boys and girls track team travelled to Evart for the Evart Middle School Invitational on Friday.  The boys put in strong performances against ten other teams.  Winning medals at the invitational were: Collin Hancock with a second in the shot put, DJ Reiter with a third place in the pole vault, the 800 meter relay team of Bradley Atkins, Devin Root, Caleb Cnossen and Collin Hinkston with a fourth place,  Jared Ball with a third in both the 800 meter run and the 100 meter dash,  Collin Hinkston place 6th in the 70 meter dash, James Monhead placed 6th in the 200 meter hurdles.  The 1600 meter relay team of David Raymond, Mason Herrick, Andrew Fechter and Bradley Atkins placed 4th, and in the last event of the evening, the 400 meter relay team of DJ Reiter, Lucas Marion, Collin Hinkston and Jared Ball placed  6th.  Good showing on your first meet boys! Emily Corwin placed 6th in shot put, Madison Kruschinska placed 6th in 3200 meter run,  5th in  55 meter hurdles Laraiah Schichtel, the 800 meter relay consisting of Jessica Zubor,  Abigail Scott, Emily Corwin and Becca Miller placed 6th, Laraiah Schichtel 2nd place in 400 run, Laraiah Schichtel placed first in 200 hurdles, Holly Eising place 6th in the 200 dash.  A great job was done by all.

Lunch charges need to be paid. Beginning today  you will not be able to charge  your lunches.

The book fair will be open during homeroom today.
