Tied for third in the Christmas song door decorating contest is Mr. Petrosky and Mr. Randall’s Homerooms.  In second place is Mr. Prielipp’s 8th grade Algebra kids.  And first place in the homeroom door decorating contest was Mr. Kent’s homeroom with an average score of 8.1 points total out of ten.

Our 7th and 8th grade basketball teams traveled to Manton last night.  In the 7th grade game our team scared an undefeated Manton 7th grade team playing extremely well but fell short 28-26 in the end.  Then our 8th grade played a great game in the nightcap losing 36-30. Coaches Gaffney, Larsen and Hubbard are really proud of you gentlemen for your good play and efforts all season.

Judging for Christmas song door decorations will be during lunches today.  Student Council please report to Mrs. Gottschall’s room to get a voting ballot.

Student Council will be hosting a door decorating contest.    Judging will be next week Tuesday and will be based on creativity of the door and how close the door resembles the song.  Winners will be announced the next day, Wednesday,  during Homeroom.

Last night our 7th and 8th grade basketball teams traveled to McBain to play the Ramblers.  The first game was a high scoring affair with McBain winning 53-33 over our 7th graders.  In the second game our 8th graders dominated the entire game winning 41-33.  We play our last home game of the season Thursday against Evart.

Student and staff have donated 958 items for Project Christmas. The winner of the ice cream sundae party is Mrs. Nowak’s homeroom. They donated 193 items.  Second place was Mr. Petrosky’s homeroom and third place was Mr. Kent’s homeroom. A complete list of homerooms and donations is posted outside of Ms. Porter’s office. Thank you to all who participated.

The City of Lake City will celebrate Halloween with trick or treating between the hours of 6 and 8 pm on Monday, October 31.

Boys basketball practice for 8th grade  will be 3:05 to 5:15, 7th grade will practice from 4:30 to 6:00.

School will not be in session tomorrow,  November 1.

The City of Lake City will celebrate Halloween with trick or treating between the hours of 6 and 8 pm on Monday, October 31.

There will not be practice for 7th and 8th grade boys’ basketball today, due to the varsity football playoff game in TC. Practice Monday for 8th grade  will be 3:05 to 5:15, 7th grade will practice from 4:30 to 6:00.

ANNOUNCEMENTS – Tuesday, October 25, 2011

The 8th grade girls finished their middle school careers with a win last night against the Ramblers of McBain. LC dropped the first game 21-16 but came fighting in the second 23-21 to force it to three and won the third 21-15. They continued their playing well and came out with a win in the 4th 21-19 before dropping the 5th 17-21. They finished the year being 11-1 and finished middle school 26-1, congratulations girls. Last night the 7th grade volleyball team took three out of 5 from the McBain Ramblers – 9-21, 18-21, 21-11, 21-10, 21-14.  Excellent job this season.  We are proud of you. Best of luck in basketball.

ANNOUNCEMENTS – Friday, October 21, 2011

Thank you to everyone who participated in Hats On Day.  You raised $172 dollars for the Foundation for Children With Cancer.  All money goes directly to the foundation and will be used to help families pay for medical bills, traveling costs, or any other expenses that may occur during treatment. Congratulations to all who participated.

The Missaukee District Library will hold a family Halloween bash on Saturday, October 29th beginning at 10 am.  There will be crafts, games, prizes.  Costumes are encouraged.

Student Council please report to Mrs. Gottschall’s room at this time.

The Lake City Middle School Cross Country team concluded their season Tuesday at the final Conference Jamboree meet at Pine River.  Despite the cold weather, great runs were had by all!  Nolan Linderman ran a 13:55 and came in 8th over all, earning himself Highland Conference honors!  Nick Trolz ran 16:23, Ravi Patel ran a personal best of 17:41, and Sadie Henneman ran 19:03.  Congratulations Trojan Runners for a great meet and a great season!

Middle school football team lost their last game last night – they finished their season with a record of 5-1.  All four coaches are proud of you.

The 8th grade volleyball made a great come back after their loss to Beal City winning 3 games of 5 last night against Pine River.  Pine River won the first game 22-25 and then the girls rallied together to win 3 straight 25-13, 25-17, 25-23 and dropped the last 23-25. 7th grade lost to Pine River. Catch them next Monday at McBain at 6.
